It is hard to believe that we have past the half way mark in 2010. June was a full and exciting month in Jinotega. The best way to tell about the month is with picture. You can see more pictures on our website, www photos.misionparacristo, click on galleries.
From June 5th to the 12th we had with us Highway and Saturn Road and several individuals including Donna’ssister, brother-in-law, niece and Mike and Ann’s son Scott. While here they built stairs at Sandino Day Care, demolished and rebuilt a kitchen along with lots of time with the kids in our schools. By the time the week ended we really had one big group.
Olive Branch International with students from Texas Tech medical school who worked with the mission from June 12 through June 19. During that time they visited 8 communities in the department of Jinotega and held two medical clinics in Jinotega. Over 4,000 people were seen during this week. Dr Patterson and seven of the medical stayed till the 24thhelping with Community Health Promoter training, working with public health training of parents from four pre-schools and some worked in the health center.
The group from Summerville arrived on June 24 and departed on July 10. During their time here they made blocks, conducted VBS at mission churches in the area and started a new school and a house in the community of San Gorgorio, which is close to Yankea north of Jinotega. We hope that the pictures have given you a good look into what is happening in Nicaragua. God has truly blessed us as we have said many times; “Immeasurably more that we could have ever asked or imagined.
This summer we have also been blessed with a very special group of interns: AshliRoussel, Emily Hale, Jacob and Kate Martin, Stacey Sanchez, Lacey Bates, Mark Membreno, and Haley Phillips. Ashliand Emily have been with us all summer.

With the starting of July it is time for to start the promotion of “Smiles” for 2010. Thanks to the support of so many we were able to send 7,860 “Smiles” last year to Nicaragua that allowed us to touch over 10,000 children across Nicaragua. We need your help to increase that number this year. Contact us today about this exciting way to touch children. Also contact us if you would like to partner with a group coming the first two of week of December to help in the distribution of the “Smiles” and other projects around the church and mission.
Housing needs, we are finding more and more people that need a roof over their families’ head. Nothing special but plastic just does not keep their family dry. We could use your help in funding construction and by bringing some to help us touch more with just basic shelter.
We continue to look for a new Nicaragua Director, we have approach a brother in Managua about this position. Please continue to keep this search in your prayers.
Donna continues to improve from her knee surgery, not a 100% but better every day. Thanks for all your prayers and encouragement during these last six month of surgery and recovery.
